In 2017 we studied a network of hiking trails on the island of Hydra, the only car-free island in Greece. The network was implemented in a duration of an almost three year span and reached its current form in 2022, with plans to add one more route in the southern part of the island in the coming years. Thus, the Hydra Trails network consists of 4 different trails, three of which start from the settlement of Hydra and the fourth is located on the small island of Dokos, the island that stands between Hydra and the Peloponnese.
Through the marked network of old footpaths, you will see all the hidden beauties of the island: the monasteries and churches, the forests, the geology, the rural settlements, the windmills and the endless, enchanting view. You will get to know in depth the culture and civilization of Hydra by walking from its easternmost tip to its westernmost tip.
Paths of Greece designed and implemented the Hydra Trails project on behalf of the Municipality of Hydra.
Part of the project promotion was the map-brochure shown above, as well as a website and mobile phone app.
